From Ashtanga to Sivananda, yoga is alive and well in the Bavarian capital. The centers listed below are all in central Munich, near public transport, and accept drop-in students for around 15 Euros per class. Although most classes are lead in German, instructors are usually able to speak English.
Air Yoga, Munich
The most upscale yoga studio in Munich, Air Yoga, is a full-service wellness oasis. In addition to classes, the center's lounge sells teas and snacks. An Asian Day Spa offers massages, manicures/pedicures and other beauty treatments.
Air Yoga's classes are all Hatha-based and include: Anusara-inspired, Ashtanga, Prana Flow, Vinyasa Flow, ISHTA and yoga for expectant moms. Sessions are offered at basic, medium or intense levels. Mats, belts and other accessories are provided. Changing rooms, lockers, shower facilities and hairdryers are available at no extra cost.

Jivamukti Yoga Centers in Munich
There are 3 centers in Munich under one umbrella, all featuring Jivamukti yoga, a style that was developed by Americans David Life and Sharon Gannon in the 1980s. Classes are offered at basic, medium or advanced (called "open") levels. There are also prenatal, Mommy & Baby, and kids yoga sessions.

Sivananda Yoga Center, Munich
This large yoga center has 5 practice rooms and offers more than 40 courses per week in yoga, meditation and Kirtan (mantra singing). Yoga classes are offered at a range of levels, from extra gentle (Extra Sanft) to advanced (Fortgeschrittene). A weekly course (Integral) combines yoga postures and breathing exercises with meditation, and there are also prenatal (Schwangere) and kids sessions.

Yogabase in Munich
Yogabase is a small Ashtanga studio in Munich's Schwabing district. Sole-instructor Reimar Suenkel speaks excellent English and offers classes for beginners (Einsteiger) as well as led (gefuerte Klasse) and Mysore-style sessions for experienced Ashtanga yogis.

Kundalini Yoga Center, Munich
The Kundalini Yoga Center is devoted to teaching the yoga style that was developed and brought to the West from India by Yogi Bhajan in the 1960s. The center offers about 15 courses per week in addition to daily Sadhana sessions and weekend workshops.
Yoga sessions are taught at the beginner (Einsteiger), regular and intensive levels; there are also courses for women only (für Frauen) and expectant moms (Schwangere). Sadhana, which is the daily practice of yoga combined with meditation and recitations, takes place 7 days a week from 5:30 to 8:00am and is free (voluntary contributions appreciated).
